A Mesmerizing Digital Water Spectacle
As part of Enchanted Forest 2018, NOVAK was invited to contribute to the creative vision of Scotland’s renowned outdoor light and sound festival. Our artwork, Linn, became the festival’s stunning centrepiece, captivating audiences every evening throughout October at Faskally Forest, near Pitlochry. Projected onto a breathtaking water screen in the middle of the loch, Linn was a seamless fusion of digital art, lighting, and sound. Inspired by the surrounding woodland, the rhythms of the seasons, and the creatures that inhabit the area, the installation celebrated the natural beauty of Faskally Forest in an enchanting and immersive way.

The Brief
Bringing Nature’s Magic to Life
The aim of the project was to create a visually striking and thematically rich installation that would become the centrepiece of Enchanted Forest 2018. The artwork needed to harmonize with the festival’s breathtaking landscape, using projection, lighting, and sound to transport audiences into a dreamlike world inspired by the cycles of nature. The installation had to embrace the themes of transformation and the unseen magic of the forest, offering visitors an experience that felt both ethereal and deeply connected to the natural surroundings.

The water screen projection created an almost otherworldly effect, as shifting layers of color and form danced upon the loch’s surface, transforming the natural space into an immersive portal of light and motion. Carefully designed animations reflected the seasonal shifts of the forest, while abstract interpretations of its flora and fauna brought the woodland to life in a stunningly poetic way. Enhanced by a powerful lighting display and a rich, atmospheric soundscape, Linn became a mesmerizing focal point of the festival, drawing audiences into its hypnotic embrace. A huge thank you to the incredible Enchanted Forest team for the opportunity to collaborate on this magical event.
