The Brief

Exploring Pilgrimage in a Changing World

The concept behind STILL was inspired by the idea of pilgrimage—both in the traditional sense and as a metaphor for personal journeys of discovery. In response to the COVID-19 lockdowns, which forced many to embark on introspective and transformative experiences from the confines of their homes, the installation sought to explore how unexpected journeys can lead to enlightenment, even through moments of challenge and uncertainty.

Our Response

An Immersive Journey Through Light, Sound, and Space

NOVAK brought STILL to life through a fusion of projection mapping, carefully orchestrated lighting design, and an intricately composed multi-channel musical score. The visuals and soundscapes worked in harmony to guide visitors on a symbolic journey, mirroring the emotional and psychological landscapes of pilgrimage. The projections illuminated the cathedral’s architecture, transforming its surfaces into shifting, meditative imagery that reflected the themes of travel, discovery, and reflection. The accompanying score, layered with immersive spatial audio, reinforced the idea of movement and transformation, creating a contemplative atmosphere that encouraged visitors to pause, reflect, and engage with their own personal narratives of change and resilience.
